Miarah Jones, Margaret Reategui, Jessica Reategui, Gov. Dan Malloy and CEO of Rego Realty Jose Reategui
On Wednesday night I and members of the Rego team attend an event for Governor Malloy hosted by La Casona. There was a buffet of delicious, authentic foods. I would expect nothing less than the best at La Casona. They have superb food and drinks at their restaurant. But the main allure that night was to see and hear Governor Malloy speak about his plans to continue to improve Hartford economically, socially and educationally for his next potential term. Malloy of course also encouraged all to vote on November 2. After listening to his speech it hit me that votes matter and I have the right to vote as well as an obligation to vote because I can make a difference.
I truly believe that acting out your right to vote has not become an area of importance in today’s society. Often time people feel as though their vote doesn't matter or are mistrusting of the government and therefore have no motivation to vote. This is quite unfortunate because this is one of the main ways to get our voices heard and make a difference.
The event was all in all a success in more than one way. We were able to interact with other community leaders and be reminded of the importance of voting. So no matter what your political views are make sure you get out and exercise YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE!
